Pitch It is a sourcing and selling platform for not-for-profits, which uniquely (for an eStore) holds no inventory. For large or national not-for-profit where the market opportunity is big enough for volume turnover, Pitch It purchases inventory on behalf of the not-for-profit. For smaller smaller organisations localised around a limited potential market size (e.g. school), Pitch It operates on a "pre-order + reserve quantity" system. This means that the smaller organisations are still able to do scalable product fundraising without any upfront inventory costs, and are highly motivated to drive supporters to purchase to ensure reserve caps are met.

Pre-Ordering Model

Reserve Batch

What is the Reserve Batch?

The Reserve Batch is the number of pre-orders required to activate production. Until this number is achieved, all pre-order purchases sit in "holding".

The Reserve Batch are multiples of 100 (e.g. 100, 200, 300 etc.). There is a counter on each product that automatically adds each new order and advises how many pre-orders remaining in the current Reserve Batch, before production can be activated.

There’s a Share to Facebook button at the bottom of every product page, so that supporters can share to get reserve batch quantities met quicker.

Should a reserve batch quantity not be achieved within 6-weeks, customers will be fully refunded.

Payment on Pre-Order

Why do I have to pay when pre-ordering?

The Pitch It model used crowdfunded prepaid, pre-orders to enable not-for-profits to do fundraising without any upfront inventory costs. This addresses one of the biggest barriers that that majority of not-for-profits (particularly small-medium charities, most associations, and co-curricular groups) face when it comes to doing scalable product fundraising.

Production

When are pre-orders produced?

Each time the counter hits a multiple of 200, production is automatically activated.

When a production batch is activated, those who made pre-ordered purchases receive an email advising the estimated number of weeks for delivery (typically 2-3 weeks).
Communications
All purchasers will receive the following sequence of emails:

1. Purchase Pre-order confirmation - automatically issued upon completion of purchase pre-order.

2. Notification that your purchase pre-order has hit its Reserve Batch number and moved into production stage.

3. Notification that your order has been shipped out to you, with the courier reference number.

In rare cases:
4. Notification that you are being issued with a full refund as your purchase pre-ordered product has not meet its reserve batch within a 6-week period.
